National Biodefense Science Board (NBSB) Virtual Public Meeting

The NBSB will conduct a (virtual) public meeting on Sept 29, 2022 to discuss high priority issues related to national public health emergency preparedness and response. The advisory committee’s working groups have been discussing lessons from COVID-19, including collection, analysis, and sharing of operational health data, support for and coordination of the national health workforce, and uses of virtual healthcare during disaster response. Members of the general public and expert stakeholders are invited to participate in the meeting as observers through Zoom which requires preregistration. The meeting will include American Sign Language and communication access real-time translation (CART).

A detailed agenda, as well as other meeting material as needed, will be posted on the NBSB public meeting page in advance of the meeting. In addition to the option to observe the meeting online, anyone may submit questions or comments by email (NBSB@hhs.gov) to the board members ahead of the meeting. If time allows, the board members will address written questions or comments during the meeting.

Representatives from relevant industries, academia, health professions, health care consumer organizations, non-federal government agencies, or community-based organizations may request up to 7 minutes to speak directly to the Board. Those requests to speak directly to the NBSB during the public meeting must be sent to NBSB@hhs.gov by close of business on September 15, 2022. Please provide the full name, credentials, official position(s), and relevant affiliations for the speaker and a brief description of the intended topic. The NBSB chairperson will review each request and, if approved, a staff member will contact the requestor with additional instructions. Presentations that contain material with a commercial bias, advertising, marketing, or solicitations will not be allowed. Public comments and related discussion will be summarized in the final meeting report.
